Copper River Delta Shorebird Migration

It’s now mid-April in Alaska and spring is just around the corner!  The massive migration of shorebirds through the Copper River Delta is just a few weeks away.  Upwards of seven million shorebirds, including 90% of the world’s population of Western Sandpipers (Calidris mauri) will be stopping for a few days on the Copper River Delta to refuel on their epic migration from Central and South America to their breeding grounds in western AlaskaI will be heading out on the Discovery with a lucky group of 6 people to see and photograph this amazing spectacle of bird migration as well as experiencing all the wonders of Prince William Sound at this time of year.
